The Pentagon has proposed an $853 million increase in the Special Operations Command budget for FY03, pushing it to $4.9 billion. The increase includes another $376 million for the SOC's procurement budget, nearly doubling it to $777 million. This will include upgrades for helicopters and AC-130 gunships.--Stephen V Cole
