The Army of Thailand is acquiring 30 refurbished UH-1H and six refurbished AH-1 helicopters from surplus US stocks. The aircraft are technically free, but Thailand will pay about $37 million for their delivery and refurbishment. Thailand has about 90 UH-1Hs, but these are so worn out that it is more cost effective to acquire newly refurbished ones from the US than to rebuild the ones they have.--Stephen V Cole
