The Bush Administration is considering a plan to design and build a new smaller nuclear bomb that could be used to replace some of the aging weapons. A smaller weapon, delivered more accurately, could provide the required destruction while causing less collateral damage. Many of the weapons in the current US arsenal were designed for use in a major nuclear war where a small explosion size was not considered a desirable attribute.--Stephen V Cole
