France has ordered a final batch of 52 Leclerc main battle tanks. These will cost $418 million (total) and will be delivered in 2003-2005. France originally intended to buy 1,400 Leclercs, but later reduced this in steps to 406. This order will bring the total to 354 and France says it will stop production at that point rather than 406.--Stephen V Cole
