The Israeli Air Force has decided not to upgrade its F-16s for at least two years. It has 260 F-16s in its fleet, some of them 20 years old. A consortium of Israeli companies had looked forward to a deal to upgrade 240 of the aircraft for $4 million each. Israel has another 50 F-16s, these are new F-16Is, on order and has stated plans to buy another 60 of these advanced aircraft.--Stephen V Cole
